Two years in the making, In the Garden, In the Night is Strawberry Runner’s first EP. Recorded
on a snowy mountain in Evergreen, CO, mixed by Doug Boehm in LA, and available from
Salinas Records October 20, 2017, the album presents five of the band’s core songs. The tracks are so catchy, so energetic and relaxed in turn, that on first listen you might almost miss the narrative being told, where love and pain bloom side by side: one story begins with a carefree dip in the river, parts with the sudden news of the death of a friend’s grown children, and fiercely, softly, and sincerely affirms that “search your whole life long, there ain’t nothing strong as a Kentucky woman.” All of the EP's material is drawn from Emi’s childhood and adolescence and has been well-tested live.

Includes digital pre-order of In the Garden, In the Night. You get 1 track now (streaming via the free Bandcamp app and also available as a high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more), plus the complete album the moment it’s released.

Thank you to everyone involved in making the album - all the players in present and past incarnations of Strawberry Runners, who helped shape these songs and motivated me to keep playing, writing, and recording despite myriad mishaps and boundless uncertainty: Jacob, Brennan, Steven, Chris, Eli, Tomas, David, and Olivia. Thank you to Rachel, Marco, and Nathan for your patience and dedication and for making sure this album found a place in the world, to Oliver, Otto, and Cole for your invaluable support, inspiration, and feedback through the years of incubation and creation. Thank you to everyone at the Sugar Shack (RIP) for tolerating incessant band practices. Thank you to the sweetest friends in Denver who always came to our shows and listened and danced and sang along with us! I am lucky to have had the opportunity to be surrounded by such a talented, hard-working, patient, and generous community while bringing this project to fruition. It’s been a long time coming!

Thank you to my dad for sharing his life and love with us and to my mom and my brothers for teaching me to meet difficulty with strength, compassion, wisdom, creativity, curiosity, and if all else fails, a sense of humor.

Track Name: Garden Hose
shallow breathing
little lungs, you’re feeling
scared of what you know
terrified of what you don’t know
so take off all your clothes
jump screaming through the garden hose
and lay me on the rooftop
and say my name
don’t ever stop

oh you’re so funny always running
from yourself nobody’s gonna catch you
you’re so funny always running
from yourself nobody’s gonna catch you
you’re so funny always running
from yourself nobody’s gonna catch you
you’re so funny always running
from yourself nobody’s gonna catch you
you’re so funny always running
from yourself nobody’s gonna catch you
you’re so funny always running
run forever, you think I wanna catch you?

Oh that’s right,
you wanna pick a fight
wanna stay up all night
wanna see me cry
Oh that’s right
you wanna make it alright
wanna make it right?
I’d like to see you try

aaa ooo aaa
